The third edition of the One Service One Medal (OSOM) Games was filled with excitement for all stakeholders.
Director Grassroots Sports Development, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Ademola Are expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen on the sideline of the Games closing ceremony at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on night Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
He was reacting to the mood at the main bowl of the stadium, where spectators and team contingents where seen excited by the spectacular closing ceremony, which featured several displays from various departments of the Nigerian Police Force.
“Yes the athletes and all the officials cannot help it but be excited about what they have been witnessing for the last three days. They are also thrilled by the closing ceremony which they are watching right now. Not only them, but even the officials and I, are all excited,” he said.
He described the third edition of OSOM as very successful, with several talents, sighted by the ministry.
Dr. Are expressed optimism that the next edition of the annual Games will turn out to be even more spectacular.
He praised the participating security and para military agencies for exhibiting high level of discipline and sportsmanship all through the Games.
When asked to comment on the recent victory of the Super Falcons who claimed a record eight Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) title, he praised the girls for doing Nigeria proud.
“Their victory shows that our policy thrust on sports development is yielding results. I would like to commend the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for stepping up their game and motivating the girls,” he added.
