2,742 civil servants to get 3 month salary arrears in Kaduna

Following hitches encountered and other sundry issues in the on-going verification of civil servants by the Kaduna State Government, 2,742 workers in the state are to get their three month salary arrears in the next few days.
 
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Abdu Kwari while speaking with journalists after the State weekly Executive Council Meeting.
 
Kwari said this follows the briefing of the Council Meeting by the State Head of Service, Mrs Onazi Alisabatu who assured that the number was cleared following extensive re-verification exercise and certification by her office.
 
The Commissioner said following the state decision to give out a mobile phone number for the staff complaints, 1,617 messages of complaints were received by the government.
 
Kwari also revealed that the state took census of the teaching staff in Primary Schools across the state in the 23 Local Government Areas, a memo from State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and they are 36, 564 under the employment of the (SUBEB) who are on the pay role as at today excluding the over two thousand who just underwent re-verification.
 
He assured that with the last re-verification and certification, they hope the agitation for salary would be a thing of the past.
 
He attributed the hitches that led to the exemption of these set of workers in the last three months to some of the banks who handle their salary, the staff for not doing the needful as at when due among others.
