21 Killed In New Bandits Attack In Zamfara

No fewer than 21 people have been reported killed by dreaded bandits in Badarawa village of Shinkafi local government area of Zamfara State.

According to eye witness,  Usman Sani a resident of Badarawa village who claimed to be luck to have escaped being killed or injured said, the bandits in their dozens stormed the village began shooting at anything in sight which resulted in the death of over 21 people instantly with many getting seriously injured.

A health worker in Shinkafi town, the local government headquarters, who prefer anonymity, said many dead bodies were brought to the hospital in Shinkafi town from the village where the attack took place..

He added that at least 12 people some of whom were seriously injured were referred to Gusau the state capital for proper medical care in view of the severity of their injuries.


However, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Zamfara state Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu said only six people were killed while 10 sustained injuries.


Shehu said on receiving distress call the command mobilized it team to the area which made the bandits to flee which made the police to be on their trail.


He said the command is currently patrolling the area to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous act and therefore asked the people to assist the Police in crushing all forms of criminalities in the state by providing useful information and reporting suspicious persons or movement to the Police.

The latest killing is coming barely three days after a a special own hall meeting on security organized by the federal government was held in Gusau.
