Presidential candidate of the National Action Council (NAC) Dr. Olapade Agoro on Thursday threatened drag the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to court over the purchased of the N45.5 million nomination form for President Muhammadu Buhari by members of the Nigerian Consolidation Ambassadors Network (NCAC).
Speaking with newsmen, Dr Agoro
demanded that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) should reveal the identities of members of the Nigerian Consolidation Ambassadors Network (NCAC) that purchased the N45.5 million nomination form for President Muhammadu Buhari.
He declared s the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should disqualify President Buhari from participating in the 2019 presidential election until the APC reveal the identities of NCAC members to Nigerians
According to the NAC Presidential candidate, “it is not acceptable in any decent society where democracy is being practised for individuals or groups of individuals to purchase nomination form for a sitting President that is seeking re election.”
Dr Agoro stressed that ” Nigerians will like to know the identities, sources of income and evidence of tax payment of those who contributed and purchased the APC expression of interest and nomination form for President Buhari.”
Dr Agoro emphasized that President Buhari’s decision ” of accepting the N45.5 million nomination form from the group is an act of encouraging corruption,”
“This is a man claiming to be fighting corruption. What he has done is an open invitation to corruption in governance. If the President ends up winning next year’s Presidential poll, those who contributed money to purchase nomination form for him will come back for their prize”, he said.
The NAC Presidential candidate then threatened to drag both INEC and APC to court to ensure that the President is disqualified from participating in next year’s poll.
” It is deception of the highest order for a Nigerian President who has been in the office for three and half years to claim that he could not afford N45 million. Buhari is the leader of the ruling APC. We all know the worth of a Nigerian President. There is no need for such deceit, we cannot continue to run a government based on deceit.”
Dr Agoro added, “Buhari controls Oshiomhole and other national executives of the party that fixed the price of the nomination form at over N45 million. He should have prevailed on them to reduce the price, if he knew he could truly not afford the amount, instead of encouraging questionable funds to be injected into the country’s electoral system “.
