Participants of the 2019 Post Elections Review workshop in Bauchi have been asked to dessert and analyze critically the elections with a view to identify areas of stand and weaknesses, sufficiency and shortfall, as well as other observations for recommendation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC National Commissioner in-charge of Bauchi/Gombe/Yobe, Alhaji Baba Shettima Ardo assured that the commission will give necessary attention to the recommendations of the workshop, stressing that the 2019 elections review meeting is simultaneously taking place in all the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Declaring the meeting at Mahmood Yakubu Hall, Bauchi opened, the INEC Commissioner said participants are also expected to discuss and highlight challenges and successes experienced, and make useful suggestions for improvement in subsequent elections.

Bauchi Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ibrahim Abdullahi has in a welcome address said participants were drawn from staff of the commission at state and Local Government levels including key stakeholders, particularly adhoc staff that participated in the conduct of 2019 general elections that started from polling units, registration area, and LG levels.

He recalled that the commission had earlier assured the nation that it will review all aspects of processes and procedures for the 2019 elections in full consultation with stakeholders, saying INEC is not unaware of its roles of entrenching democracy and goo governance.

Participants at the workshop include 20 electoral officers and their assistants, three senatorial  coalition officers, three registration areas coalition officers, three presiding officers and one assistant president officer.
