As the race to the National Assembly in the year 2019 gathers momentum, political parties in Ondo state are leaving no stone unturned to present their candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, October 8, 2018.
While National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is making good her promise to return all her incumbent Senators as unopposed across the country, Senators Ajayi Boroffice, Tayo Alasoadura and Yele Omogunwa from Ondo North, Central and Southern Senatorial Districts respectively were equally cleared.
The People’s Democratic Party how ever had peaceful primaries across the state in electing their flag bearers for the 2019 general election.
The PDP in Ondo North Senatorial District primaries, Olusegun Alonge Known as OPA with 339 , Tokunbo poled 280 votes while the third contestant, Modupe SAKA lawal had 94 votes.
In Ondo Central PDP primary elections, the former Senator,
SEN AYO Akinyelure Aka ALLOVER polled 338 votes against H.E Otunba Oluwateru Omolade 253, while Olabisi Johnson scored 63 votes.
Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo how ever won the Ondo South Senatorial ticket with 241 votes even as Engineer Ademulegun polled 227 while Barr. Sola Ebiseni scored 177 out of the total votes cast.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after he was declared winner, Senator Ayo Akinyelure while commending the for voting for him to represent them at the Upper Chamber, he assured of adequate representation in the next four year.
Senator Akintelure said he is ready to.go back to the Senate adding that ” we must not leave any stone unturned in the February 2019 general election by ensuring that PDP wins at all levels”.
His words, ” people voted for a change from hunger, poverty and hardship which the government of APC has inflicted on the people in the last three years”.
Earlier in Hus remark, the Chairman, PDP in Ondo state, Engr. Clement Faboyede expressed happiness that now that the people had tasted ” two husbands” they have seen that PDP is the party of the masses.
He therefore enjoined the people to vote out the APC at all levels in the 2019 general elections saying PDP has learnt her lessons and will not disappoint this time around.
