Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has charged Nigerians to mobilize themselves and ask President Muhammadu Buhari to contest  again in 2019.

Barrister Shittu made the call in his book titled ” Compilation of some of the achievements of Buhari – Osinbajo administration”  2015 -2017 circulated at the commissioning of the Buhari/Osinbajo SW campaign office in Ibadan

The Minister declared that so far, the  President Buhari’s led government has succeeded ” more than 50 percent in the three major things namely “the fight against corruption, the fight against insurgency both in the North East and the South South including general insecurity and economy revival.

” In 2015, Nigerians deliberately made their choice in President Buhari. There was a leader at that time, but Nigerians were not satisfied with that leadership, they decided to change and he has not disappointed them. So, why shouldn’t we out of patriotic zeal start asking him to come back and mobilize support for him to be able to continue and make Nigerians feel proud” he said.

Barrister Shittu pointed out that “leakages in government incomes have been blocked” adding,”now, all funds accruing to the Federal government that were hitherto either being misused or mismanaged by the banks as deposits are now warehoused in the Treasury Single Account. Today, all government revenue are centralized and properly monitored”.

“Upon assumption of office, President Muhammadu Buhari promised three major things namely namely percent in the three major things namely the fight against corruption, the fight against insurgency both in the North East and the South South including general insecurity and economy revival. On these promises, government has succeeded more than 50 percent. In fact, in the area of fighting corruption, we should be counting  our stars, we should thank God that for once, people now appreciate that it is not business as usual”.

Barrister Shittu added that ” the fight against insurgency and insecurity has recorded appreciable result” saying, ” today, Boko Haram has been degraded completely . In the South South where we had Niger Delta militants, there is relatively peace and that has impacted positively on oil and gas production and general stability”.

The Minister stressed that ” with regards to the economy and specifically power supply, we have attained 7,000 megawatts of electricity, the highest in history’  saying ” the construction of Mambilla power plant to generate 3,005 megawatts would certainly change the situation of electricity in this country “.

” Another area I must not forget is, before Buhari came on board, works on road contracts of about 26 or 27 roads contracts had been abandoned for two years because there was no funding for them.Workers on these projects had been retrenched. When this government came, it revived all projects .Now, about 38 new roads projects are on going and they are all being adequately financed’.
