Ahead of the primary elections of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) to select flag bearers for all elective public offices preparatory to next year’s general elections, governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has directed all political office holders in the state who are interested to vie for any elective office in the forth coming general elections in 2019 to put in their resignation with immediate effect.
Governor Sani Bello explained that the reason was to allow all those aspiring for elective political offices to leave the stage and concentrate on pursuing their political ambitions.
This directive was contained in a statement on Thursday. It was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG), Ibrahim Isah Ladan.
This was the fall out of the state’s executive council meeting held the previous day where the it was resolved to ask all those interested to contest elective public offices to vacate their current public offices ahead of the primary elections.
The statement further explained that the decision to relieve the political appointees of their jobs was to enable those interested in contesting for elective public offices to have the latitudes for effective participation in campaigns and other sundry activities.
The Governor bid such affected public office holders well while appreciating their contributions to his administration just as he wish them well in their future endeavours.
