Police crime fighters from the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have bursted open criminal cells in parts of the state in a recent onslaughts to rid the state of men of undesirable elements.
Police Commissioner in the state, Paul Dibal Yakadi said the nineteen criminals included armed robbers, cattle thieves, kidnappers and rapists, gun runners and car jackers.
The criminals were nabbed during separate operations by the Police in Suleja, Mashegu, Madalla and Tafa area of the state.
The Command’s image maker, ASP Abubakar Mohammed Dan Inna who spoke for his Commissioner, said the reinvigorated onslaughts against men of the underworld was yielding good dividends even as he assured that the Police would not relent on it’s crime fighting.
Weapons and other items recovered from the suspected criminals include three AK 47 assault rifles, five locally made pistols, a short gun, a set of army uniforms, a cache’ of assorted live ammunitions, a Carina E brand car, an Acura MDX Jeep, flock including cows, sheep, goats, handsets among other things.
He attributed the success attained by men of the Command to cooperation from members of the public and the timely release of intelligent on activities of criminals.
He disclosed that the band of kidnappers who accusted their victim, were arrested in good time as they attempted to get away with their booty including the victim but for the timely arrival of the Police who gave them a good chase and caught up with them.
He further explained that six suspected armed robbers who robbed a local businessman at Zugurma area of Mashegu were also nabbed following information from members of the public.
