12 People Including 3 Kids Die in Oyo/Ogbomoso Road Crash

Twelve people comprising of nine adults and three kids met their untimely death on Saturday along Oyo/Ogbomoso road when a commercial commuter bus plunged into the Odo-Oba river on the Ogbomoso end of the express road.
New Nigerian gathered that the commercial commuter bus was heading to Ilorin from Lagos when it plunged into the river while trying to avoid an articulated vehicle during which it lost control.
Sources said trouble started when the articulated truck was approaching the small bridge on the Odo Oba river same time with the commercial commuter bus forcing it to veered off the road and plunged into the river in an efforts by the driver to escape hitting the truck.
Eye witness account said twelve of the passengers in the commercial bus died on the spot while three others including the driver survived.
Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer,SP Adekunle Ajisebutu while confirming the story declared that 12 people lost their lives and that their bodies had been deposited at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in  Ogbomoso.
“The driver of the Mazda bus lost control of the vehicle and plunged into the Odo-Oba River. Nine adults and three kids died on the spot and their bodies have been deposited at the LATECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso”he said.
SP Ajisebutu added that “the police with assistance from local drivers helped pull the bodies and passengers out of the river. The vehicle is still in the river.”
